PULLMAN, WA – Washington State University Surplus Stores announced that the electric Cougar Football helmet car will be sold through a silent auction on Friday, September 5.

The auction will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with bidding starting at $800. Offers can be made in person at the Surplus Stores or by email at surplus@wsu.edu.

Emailed bids must include the bidder’s full name, phone number and bid amount. The winning bidder will be contacted to arrange payment and pickup.

According to the store’s announcement, the car has been in storage for some time and is in disrepair. It does not run, will need to be towed, has flat tires, and one of its storage compartment doors has broken off the hinge.

Washington state sales tax will be applied to the final purchase. The successful bidder must remove the vehicle within 10 university business days, unless an extension is approved by Surplus Stores.
