AAA: Statewide Gas Average Holds, National Prices Edge Higher

BOISE, ID – Idaho drivers saw little change at the pump last week, with the state average for regular gasoline holding steady at $3.47 per gallon, according to AAA. The price is unchanged from a week ago but remains about eight cents less than a month ago and 11 cents lower than the same time last year.

The national average currently stands at $3.20 per gallon – up one cent from last week and four cents higher than a month ago, though still seven cents less than last year. Idaho continues to rank as the eighth most expensive state for fuel.

“Pump prices in the Panhandle went up a little bit, and prices in parts of Eastern Idaho slipped, holding the state average steady,” said AAA Idaho public affairs director Matthew Conde. He noted that fuel demand could increase as residents take advantage of late-summer weather for weekend getaways.

Crude oil prices are also playing a role. West Texas Intermediate is trading near $62 per barrel after a slight increase over Labor Day. Lower crude prices generally help reduce gasoline costs. The Energy Information Administration reported refinery production at about 94 percent of capacity, and if operations remain unaffected by severe heat or hurricanes, gas prices may stabilize or even decline in the coming weeks.

Idaho averages (9/8/25):

  • Boise – $3.54
  • Coeur d’Alene – $3.41
  • Franklin – $3.28
  • Idaho Falls – $3.28
  • Lewiston – $3.41
  • Pocatello – $3.38
  • Rexburg – $3.33
  • Twin Falls – $3.46
