WALLA WALLA, WA – Sondre Andresen and the No. 19 LC State Men’s Golf team are off to a hot start for the 2025 fall season at the Walla Walla Invitational at Wine Valley Golf Club. The fifth-year senior shot 11-under to tie for the individual lead after the first two rounds, and the team sits just two strokes off the lead in second overall.
“An exciting opening day of the season for the men,” coach Zach Anderson said. “To get started with a 277 is impressive. We leaked a little bit down the stretch in round two due to some mental lapses, but overall, a solid day. Sondre played some great golf today, and I am excited for him, but he knows that there is a lot of golf left in this tournament. Good to get off to a solid start today, but the job isn’t finished yet. Lots of work to do tomorrow.”
Oregon Tech leads the field after a 14-under, 562. The Warriors lead No. 11 British Columbia by a stroke heading into the final round.
Andresen was on fire with a 36-hole total of 11-under, 133. He shot 6-under in the first round and 5-under in the second with six birdies in each round. He eagled hole 15 in the first round and holds a share of the individual lead with OIT’s Cayson VanBekum.
Junior Luke West is tied for 10th after he tied his career-low in the first round at 3-under, 69. He carded four birdies in the first before a solid 74 in the second round to sit at 1-under, 143.
Sophomore Lucas Ortega and freshman Adam Lovatt are tied for 14th with matching scores of even-par, 144. Lovatt carded a 69 in his collegiate debut which included an eagle and four birdies, then shot 75 in the second. Ortega shot a 73 in his first round of the season and shaved two strokes off in the second, with the help of an eagle on hole 7, for a 1-under, 71.
