MT. RAINIER, WA – A man has been arrested in connection to the 2021 disappearance of Amanda Green after investigators say new evidence led them to human remains believed to be hers.
According to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office, Green was first reported missing to the Tacoma Police Department in 2021. The following year, Tacoma Police provided information suggesting she may have been murdered in the Yelm area. Detectives pursued the case but said there was not enough evidence at the time to make an arrest.
In March 2025, investigators refocused their attention on a person of interest. Over the weekend, the suspect was interviewed regarding Green’s disappearance. Detectives said the individual cooperated and directed them to a shallow grave in Lewis County near Mt. Rainier, where human remains were recovered. While investigators believe the remains are those of Amanda Green, formal identification is still pending.
The suspect was arrested and booked into the Thurston County Jail on charges of second-degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful disposal of human remains.
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing as they await positive identification of the remains.
