LCSC Men’s Golf Cards Third-Place Finish in Season Opener

WALLA WALLA, WA – The No 19 LC State Men’s Golf team finished third overall at a competitive Walla Walla Invitational to start the 2025-26 season. Sondre Andresen led the group with a fourth-place finish in the field of 50 golfers.

“Frustration is a great word to describe today for the men,” coach Zach Anderson said. “We just never got anything going and our putters were ice cold. It hurt us a bit to just fade away while OIT and UBC ran away with the momentum.”

The Warrior men shot 291 as a team in the third and final round of the tournament to place third behind No. 11 British Columbia and Oregon Tech. OIT’s Cayson VanBekum took home medalist honors after a score of 14-under for the tournament.

Andresen, who carded rounds of 66 and 67 on day one, finished his week with a 74 on Tuesday to place fourth at 9-under, 207. Lucas Ortega battled his way to a top-10 finish in eighth after a round of 69 in the finale. He carded four birdies and an eagle in the round to finish 3-under, 213.

Luke West shot even-par, 72, for his final 18 holes to finish the tournament with a 1-under, 215. He tied for 12th overall.

Senior Jaxon Moon placed 44th overall after a round of 79 on Tuesday. He finished 14-over with a total of 230.

“Overall, it is still a solid start for us,” Anderson said. “A lot of positives to take from this event. We also learned that the Cascade Conference continues to improve, and we now know how much of a battle this year will be. Back to the Valley for a few days to make some quick fixes before we head to a very important NWIA.”
