Don Cox, Former 9th District Lawmaker and Colfax Educator, Passes Away

COLFAX, WA – Former Washington State Representative Don Cox of Colfax has died.

Cox passed away on Sunday at his home in Colfax. He worked as the Colfax School District Superintendent in the 90’s. Cox then won an historic state house race in the local 9th Legislative District in 1999. His victory earned the Republicans a one seat majority in the lower chamber in Olympia. Cox served in the state house for seven years and then again in 2009. He also briefly served as a Port of Whitman County Commissioner.

The family suggests memorial donations to the First Baptist Church in Colfax, the Child Evangelism and Gideons International. The funeral service will be on Saturday at 11:00 at the First Baptist Church in Colfax. Corbeill Funeral Homes is caring for the family.

Don Cox was 85 years old.
