Repaving Of US195 Near Pullman Pushed Out To Next Year By Union Strike Which Ended This Week

PULLMAN, WA – The repaving of U.S. Highway 195 near Pullman has been pushed to next year because of the union strike that recently ended.

The International Union of Operating Engineers Local 302 ended their strike this week. They went on strike August 12th.

The labor dispute shutdown several highway projects in Eastern Washington including the repaving of 9 miles of US195 near Pullman. Washington State Department of Transportation officials confirm that the work and traffic delays have been reset for the spring. Poe Asphalt was hired for the 3.5 million dollar job.

With asphalt plants closing in early October there’s not enough time to restart the work this fall. Crews did start work on the project for a week before the strike. A portion of US195 in “Harlow’s Dip” just North of Pullman was ground out to make room for the new asphalt surface.
