IRVING, TX — Nexstar Media Group announced on Wednesday that its ABC-affiliated stations will preempt “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” beginning September 17, 2025, for the foreseeable future. The decision comes in response to comments made by late-night host Jimmy Kimmel regarding the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
In a statement, Nexstar said the remarks were “offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse” and did not reflect the views or values of the local communities it serves. Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar’s broadcasting division, said the company made the “difficult decision” to remove the program to encourage “respectful, constructive dialogue.”
Nexstar did not specify what programming would replace “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in its ABC-affiliated markets.
