PULLMAN, WA – A local health alert has been issued after a bat found in downtown Pullman tested positive for rabies.
It’s the first bat to test positive for rabies this year in Whitman County.
The public health department is asking people who have had direct contact with a bat in Pullman in the last month to contact their healthcare provider. Officials say people should not touch bats or other wild animals even if they are dead.
Residents are encouraged to bat-proof their home and if you have a bat in your home call the Whitman County Public Health Department.
