PULLMAN, WA – The local recreational sites on the Lower Snake River are staying open during the federal government shutdown.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers manages the landings at Wawawai, Blyton and Nisqually John in Southern Whitman County. A corps spokesman in Walla Walla confirms that the gates at the sites are open so the American public can enjoy their recreation areas.
They will remain open unless there is a change in available corps funding and staffing.
