SALEM, OR – The No. 4 Corban (Ore.) Warriors defeated the visiting No. 14 LC State Warriors on Saturday to wrap up Cascade Conference action for the weekend. Corban used a potent and diverse offense to take the match in four sets (25-15, 25-14, 16-25, 25-11). The loss is LC State’s first on the road this season.
LC State now holds a record of 10-3 overall and 7-3 in Cascade Conference play. The contest broke the sit for second place in the CCC standings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Corban Warriors controlled the pace early and a kill by Juliauna Forgach Aguilar scored the first point for LC State. Corban pulled ahead 9-3. A kill by Taylor Boyce brought the score to 11-5 before Corban errors and a kill by Mikale Roy had the margin at 18-10. The hosting Warriors carried the momentum to a 25-15 set win.
Roy and Forgach Aguilar each tallied a kill, but Corban stormed out to a 9-3 advantage in the second frame. Boyce notched a kill out of an LC State timeout but Corban maintained control. A kill by Abby Beaton sparked a run of three straight LC State points that had the difference at 18-11, but Corban ran away with the set 25-14.
Three Corban errors in the third set gave LC State its first lead of the night at 3-2. A pair of blocks by Forgach Aguilar and Beaton made it 6-4, then a kill by Alba Carpena and block by Karissa Lindner and Forgach Aguilar gave LC its largest lead of the night at 12-7. Carpena and Lindner teamed up for another block and a swing by Carpena had the lead at 15-10 and the LC State Warriors maintained the five-point edge with a kill bt Teagan Scott. Boyce added a kill and Corban errors closed out the set for a 25-16 LC State victory.
Kills by Forgach Aguilar and Carpena had LC State within one, 4-3, early in the fourth frame, and swings by Forgach Aguilar and Boyce kept the score close with Corban in front 9-5. Boyce and Carpena added kills and Makenzie Stout served an ace, but Corban raced out to a 10-point lead at 19-9. The hosting Warriors ended the match with a 25-11 win in set four.
STAT RECAP
Boyce led LC State with eight kills while Carpena and Forgach Aguilar each had five. Scott dished out 18 assists.
Lindner totaled four blocks with a solo and three assists and Forgach Aguilar assisted on three. Ella Stosich led the back row with 10 digs and Stout collected eight.

LC State continues its road stretch with more matches in Oregon next weekend. The Warriors face Oregon Tech on Oct. 10 in Klamath Falls before a contest at Southern Oregon on Oct. 11.
