ELK RIVER, ID – Idaho Fish and Game conservation officers are investigating the illegal killing of up to four moose in the Elk River and Clarkia areas.
According to the agency, the moose were killed on PotlatchDeltic corporate timber lands between October 3 and 5. Officers are seeking information about the incident, including possible kill sites and anyone who may have been hunting or transporting moose in the area during that time.
Moose are considered trophy animals in Idaho, with hunting tags issued through a limited draw system. Hunters who successfully harvest a moose are not eligible to receive another tag, making it a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Officials said there were only twelve tags issued between the two areas this season.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Fish and Game Clearwater Regional Office at (208) 799-5010, the Citizens Against Poaching Hotline at (800) 632-5999, or submit a tip through the department’s enforcement website. Reports may be made anonymously, and those providing information leading to an arrest may be eligible for a reward.
