ITD Encourages Students to Submit Snowplow Names Before Deadline

BOISE, ID — The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) is reminding teachers and students that time is running out to participate in the state’s second annual “Name a Snowplow” contest, open through the end of October.

The contest invites classrooms in grades 6–12 to collaborate on creative names for ITD snowplows while learning about winter driving safety. “Our snowplow drivers are thrilled to see students getting involved in this fun, educational opportunity that also highlights the importance of winter driving safety,” said ITD Director Scott Stokes.

Two plows in each of ITD’s six regions will be selected to receive student-chosen names. ITD employees will vote on submissions, and winning names will be displayed on the plows. Each winning classroom will also receive a special visit from the named snowplow and its driver for a winter safety presentation.

Teachers can submit entries or request more information by emailing itdcommunication@itd.idaho.gov.
Full contest details and last year’s winning names are available at itd.idaho.gov/news/name-a-snowplow .
