LEWISTON, ID — Former Lewiston City Library Youth Services Librarian Colleen Olive has been named Idaho’s Librarian of the Year.
Olive received the statewide honor during the Idaho Library Association Conference held this month in Idaho Falls. Her recognition follows a decades-long career dedicated to fostering literacy and learning among youth.
Before joining the Lewiston City Library, Olive spent more than 20 years as the District Librarian for the Kamiah School District. She later served six years in Lewiston, where she helped inspire a new generation of readers through children’s programs and outreach.
“Her heartfelt acceptance speech reminded everyone of the powerful role libraries and librarians play in helping children and families learn, grow, and discover joy through reading,” said Library Director Lynn Johnson.
The Lewiston City Library team expressed pride in Olive’s achievement and said they intend to continue her legacy by creating welcoming spaces and meaningful programs for residents of all ages.
