Whitetail Buck Shot and Left to Waste Along Mount Idaho Grade Near Grangeville

GRANGEVILLE, ID — Idaho Fish and Game officers are investigating a poaching case after a whitetail buck was found shot and left to waste along Mount Idaho Grade east of Grangeville between the evening of Sunday, October 19, and the morning of Monday, October 20.

Officials say only the head of the deer was taken, and evidence indicates the shooter fired from the road and made no attempt to retrieve the animal. Idaho Fish and Game has recently investigated several similar incidents involving wasted big game in the Clearwater Region.

Mount Idaho Grade is a heavily traveled area, and conservation officers hope a passing motorist may have seen the person responsible or their vehicle. Citizens Against Poaching (CAP) is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone with information is asked to contact CAP at (800) 632-5999 or the Idaho Fish and Game Clearwater Region office at (208) 799-5010. Callers can remain anonymous.
