ASOTIN, WA — The Asotin Police Department is investigating vandalism discovered Saturday afternoon on the “Welcome to Asotin” sign located near Baumeister Drive and Highway 129.
According to a statement from Chief Monte Renzelman, the incident was reported at about 1:30 p.m. when someone noticed red spray paint on the sign with the message “Kill Trump.” The sign had reportedly been seen intact earlier in the day, around noon.
Police also received reports of similar graffiti along the bike path between Asotin and Critchfield Road. Investigators are working to determine whether the incidents are connected.
The vandalized sign has since been removed for repair.
Renzelman urged anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area or has information that could assist the investigation to contact the Asotin Police Department at 509-758-2331.
The department said it remains committed to preserving community safety and property while working to identify those responsible.
