Vantage Bridge Deck Project Pauses for Winter, All Lanes Reopen on I-90

VANTAGE, WA — Construction crews have wrapped up work for the season on the I-90 Vantage Bridge deck replacement project, with all lanes now open to traffic as winter approaches, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).

Since spring, motorists crossing the bridge have encountered delays due to construction as crews worked to replace aging sections of the bridge deck. WSDOT announced that contractor crews have now paused all construction activity until conditions improve in early spring 2026.

While the bridge is fully open, the 9-foot width restrictions have been lifted, and the speed limit remains reduced to 55 miles per hour. Drivers are urged to remain cautious due to uneven transitions between the old and new deck sections.

The Vantage Bridge repair effort began in spring 2024 and is roughly halfway complete. WSDOT estimates the full replacement project will continue through 2028, part of an ongoing effort to ensure the safety and reliability of one of the state’s most critical east-west corridors across the Columbia River.
