PULLMAN, WA — Washington State University has launched the President’s Big Ideas Initiative, a new program designed to strengthen the university’s research mission and expand its impact across Washington and beyond.
Developed by WSU President Elizabeth Cantwell and Vice President for Research Kim Christen, the initiative will provide grants for projects that align with WSU’s core strengths and address urgent state needs. Funding is available across three tracks: large-scale interdisciplinary research platforms, publicly engaged research partnerships, and collaborations with private industry.
Cantwell said the initiative will “cement WSU’s role as Washington’s public research laboratory — where bold ideas meet real-world challenges.”
Letters of intent are due Nov. 10, with full proposals due in January. Award announcements are expected in February, and funding will begin in March.
