2025 Cascade Conference Cross Country Meet Preview

SALEM, OR – Postseason action begins on Friday for LC State at the 2025 Cascade Conference Cross Country Championships, presented by U.S. Bank. Both Warrior Cross Country teams will be in action with conference honors and national standings on the line.

The men start the day with the 8k at 10 a.m. at Oak Knoll Golf Course. The No. 22 women will race in the 6k at 11 a.m. at the meet hosted by Corban (Ore.). Live results will be available.

THE MEN

Kobe Wessels is the lone returner that has All-Cascade Conference honors under his belt after doing so two years ago as a sophomore, the same year he earned All-American status at the NAIA Cross Country Championships.

Wessels has gotten faster with each race this season and has returned to the form he was in as a sophomore. He leads a large group of seniors into a meet that will determine a lot for the Warriors. LC State will need to run well as a group to better its chances at a bid to nationals.

Alexander Fry has been a constant for the Warriors all year and has been among the top two LC State runners in each race all season. Both Connor Alexander and Tristin O’Brien have also made big strides in their final seasons and will be key to the Warriors’ scoring efforts.

Freshman Sven Druijff made a big impact in LC State’s most recent race in Michigan. His season best time in the 8k had him across the line as the third finisher for the Warriors.

THE WOMEN

The LC State women’s team, currently ranked No. 22 in the NAIA, has been led all season long by sophomore Damaris Kibiwot. The track and field All-American is poised for another All-CCC finish after a top-12 run at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge, one of the most competitive fields in the NAIA this season. She led LC State in every meet in 2025.

The senior duo of Grace Tiegs and Camille Ussher bring the most experience for the Warriors heading into the race with Ussher returning as an All-CCC performer from last season and Tiegs running in her fourth conference meet. Ussher finished 15th at the conference meet last season and Tiegs was not far behind in 21st. The pair have been in LC State’s top five all season.

On the opposite side of experience levels, freshmen Eva Lundgran and Kailee Lerew have proven to be key pieces to LC State’s scoring in the last three meets. Lerew has gotten faster in each 6k she has run, while Lundgren will compete in just her second meet at the distance.

THE DETAILS

Each team can run up to 10 student-athletes, but only the first five will be counted in the scoring. The sixth and seventh runners will displace other runners to help with scoring.

The top 15 runners in each race will earn All-Cascade Conference honors. The winning team in each race will earn the CCC’s automatic bid to the national meet, and the top four individuals not on a qualifying team (automatic or at-large) will qualify for nationals if they place in the top 15.
