SEATTLE, WA – Seattle police are investigating after a legally armed man shot two suspects during an attempted carjacking early last Thursday morning in the Belltown area.
At approximately 3:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 2200 block of 1st Avenue. Responding officers found one suspect suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and detained him. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.
Police said the victim, a licensed gun owner, had parked his sports car along 1st Avenue when a white sedan with four masked occupants approached. Two of the men allegedly attempted to steal the vehicle at gunpoint. Fearing for his safety, the victim fired multiple rounds, striking one of the suspects. The remaining suspects fled the scene.
During the investigation, a second suspect suffering a gunshot wound arrived at Harborview in a separate vehicle. That individual was also in serious condition under police guard. The vehicle and any remaining occupants left the scene before police arrived.
The victim was interviewed by detectives at Seattle Police Headquarters and subsequently released.
Robbery detectives are actively investigating the incident. Police have not released the identities of the victim or suspects.
This case remains under investigation by the Seattle Police Department Robbery Unit.
