Pair of LC State Basketball Players Earn Weekly Conference Honors

CORVALLIS, OR – With basketball season underway, a pair of LC State Basketball players earned the first Cascade Conference McDonald’s Player of the Week honors, presented by Urban Edge Network, for the Warriors this year on Monday. John Lustig was voted the CCC Men’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week, and Darian Herring was tabbed the CCC Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week.

JOHN LUSTIG – MEN’S BASKETBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Lustig had a big weekend all around for LC State in a split with Montana Western and No. 11 Montana Tech. The senior averaged 22 points per game with 20 points against UMW and a career-high 24 against Montana Tech. He shot 69.6% from the field, including 9-for-11 against MT, and had six assists between the two games. Lustig averaged eight rebounds per game with a steal and a block. His defense led directly to 14 points.

This is the second weekly honor of Lustig’s career and first this season.

DARIAN HERRING – WOMEN’S BASKETBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Herring averaged 8.5 rebounds per game over the weekend to help No. 7 LC State to wins over Montana Western and Park-Gilbert (Ariz.). The junior grabbed 10 boards against UMW and seven against PG to go with five steals and three blocks. She contributed 11 points per game and eight total assists offensively and her defense led directly to 12 points.

This is the fourth weekly honor of Herring’s career and first this season.
