PULLMAN, WA – The Pullman School Board is considering buying more land on Sunnyside Hill for potential new school building development.
The school board bought 60 acres of land at the end of Crestview Street in 2021 for future district needs. During Wednesday night’s trustee meeting, the board will discuss buying another 30 acres from the same owner, the Quist Family and Harms Place LLC. If the sale goes through, the Pullman School District would have 90 acres of undeveloped farmland for future needs. Documents to the board note that the property could someday be used for future school buildings as the district’s enrollment continues to grow. Staff reports that the additional land provides direct access to the property from Crestview and a better connection to utilities.
The Pullman School Board will consider paying $20,000 an acre for the land, totaling $600,000. The documents do not explain where the money will come from.
In 2021, the Pullman School District bought the adjacent 60-acre property for 30,000 dollars an acre for a total of 1.8 million dollars. That money in 2021 came from leftover funds from the construction of Kamiak Elementary School on Military Hill.
Wednesday night’s Pullman School Board meeting starts at 6:30 inside the high school.
