PLUMMER, ID – Idaho State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred Friday evening on U.S. Highway 95 in Plummer.
ISP said the collision happened at approximately 5 p.m. on the northbound side of the highway at D Street. Witnesses told investigators that a pickup truck struck a female pedestrian in the roadway and then failed to stop. The vehicle reportedly turned around and drove southbound on the highway.
Life-saving efforts were attempted, but the pedestrian died from her injuries.
The highway was completely blocked for several hours while ISP and Coeur d’Alene Tribal Police processed the scene.
Just before 8:00 p.m., ISP issued a public request for information, asking anyone with knowledge of the crash to call 911.
By late Friday night, investigators had identified the involved vehicle as a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado LT with a Washington license plate, registered to an address in Spokane. ISP noted that the registered owner has not been confirmed as the driver.
Troopers and local law enforcement agencies were still working to locate the vehicle overnight and identify who was behind the wheel at the time of the hit-and-run. In their last statement about the crash, ISP continued to ask the public for information regarding the crash or the vehicle’s whereabouts.
