MOSCOW, ID — The University of Idaho’s Auditorium Chamber Music Series will present acclaimed pianist Jeremy Denk and violist Richard O’Neill for an evening performance at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, in the Administration Building Auditorium.

The duo, both internationally recognized for their work as soloists and collaborators, will also lead public master classes from 10:30–11:20 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at the Lionel Hampton School of Music.

Denk, a MacArthur “Genius Grant” recipient and Avery Fisher Prize winner, is known for his inventive programming and award-winning recordings, including a Billboard-topping interpretation of Bach’s Goldberg Variations. His Mozart concerto album was praised by BBC Radio 3 as “urgent and essential.”

O’Neill, a Grammy and Emmy winner and member of the Takács Quartet, has performed with leading orchestras around the world. A Deutsche Grammophon recording artist, he is also a recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant.

Eneida Larti, director of the Auditorium Chamber Music Series and associate professor of piano, said the concert offers a rare opportunity to hear two distinguished performers sharing the stage. “They are both extraordinary soloists in their own right, and hearing them together will be an absolute treat,” Larti said. She noted that the program will feature major works for viola and piano, and will include Denk performing one of Beethoven’s late piano sonatas.

Tickets cost $25 for the general public, $20 for seniors, $10 for University of Idaho students and are free for children 12 and under. Tickets are available at uitickets.com, at the Pitman Center box office on weekdays, and at the door beginning one hour before the performance.

Founded in 1986, the Auditorium Chamber Music Series brings four professional ensembles to the Palouse each year, offering performances along with community outreach, school visits and master classes.
