MOSCOW, ID – The Moscow Fire Department responded to a residential fire on the 500 block of North Polk Street late Monday night. The first engine arrived at approximately 11:04 p.m., less than five minutes after the call.
According to the department, the home was filled with smoke when the fire was reported. The homeowner was able to rescue one of three dogs before firefighters arrived. Upon entering the residence, crews encountered moderate smoke and located a fire in the kitchen, which they quickly extinguished. Two additional dogs were found and removed to waiting EMS personnel for treatment.
Firefighters conducted salvage and overhaul operations to ensure the fire had not spread into walls or ceilings and performed ventilation to clear remaining smoke. No other injuries were reported.
Preliminary findings indicate the fire originated in the kitchen area, potentially involving a kitchen appliance. The cause remains under investigation.
