MOSCOW, ID — University of Idaho football supporters quickly rallied this week, raising enough money to cover Head Coach Thomas Ford’s fine from the Big Sky Conference following comments he made after a disputed call late in the Vandals’ recent loss to Sacramento State.
Ford was fined $2,500 for his postgame remarks. The conference later acknowledged the officiating error and suspended the officials involved, prompting frustration among some fans who felt the penalty was unwarranted.
“Considering how measured Ford’s comments were, and the fact that the Big Sky Conference both issued a statement acknowledging the blown call and suspended the officials involved… we find it preposterous for Ford to have been fined any amount whatsoever,” the fundraiser’s organizer wrote on GoFundMe.
