Man Charged With Murder Says he was Helping Friend Commit Suicide at Boise Hotel

BOISE, ID – A man has been charged with first-degree murder following the death of his friend at a Boise hotel early Thursday morning.

Boise Police responded at approximately 12:45 a.m. on November 20, 2025, to a hotel in the 2500 block of Sunrise Rim after dispatch received a call from 36-year-old Brian Jones, who stated he had killed his friend. Officers quickly took Jones into custody and secured the scene.

Inside one of the hotel rooms, officers located the body of an adult male. Ada County Paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the investigation, Jones told dispatch that his friend “wanted to go” and referred to the incident as an assisted suicide. Assisted suicide is illegal in Idaho.

Following further investigation, Jones was booked into the Ada County Jail and charged with first-degree murder. A video arraignment was held Thursday afternoon in Ada County Court. Jones is being held without bond.

The investigation is ongoing. The victim’s name was not released.
