One Dead, Two Critically Injured in Central Washington Crash Linked to Street Racing

WENATCHEE, WA – One person was killed and two others critically injured Friday evening after a two-vehicle collision, according to the Wenatchee Police Department.

Officers were dispatched around 7 p.m. on Nov. 21 to a report of an unknown-injury crash near the roundabout at U.S. 2 and Easy Street. When they arrived, they found a gray 2018 Audi A3 and a 2024 GMC Sierra had collided.

Police say preliminary information from multiple witnesses indicates the Audi had been racing another vehicle northbound on North Wenatchee Avenue before taking the highway off-ramp to U.S. 2 and heading east toward the Odabashian Bridge. While navigating the off-ramp at a high rate of speed, the Audi left its lane and crossed into oncoming traffic, where it struck the westbound GMC Sierra. The driver of the Sierra was unable to avoid the collision.

The crash resulted in one fatality. A juvenile passenger in the Audi was pronounced dead at the scene. The 18-year-old driver from Wenatchee and another juvenile passenger were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition. Names of those involved have not yet been released.

East Wenatchee School Resource Officers, Eastmont School District counselors, and members of the Chelan County Behavioral Health Unit were called in to support family and friends of those affected.

The Wenatchee Police Department expressed condolences to the victims and their families and said the investigation remains active. Detectives are seeking additional information, including the identity of the second racing vehicle, which was described as possibly a Honda Civic and has not been located.

Agencies assisting at the scene included the Washington State Patrol, Chelan County Sheriff’s Office, Chelan County Coroner’s Office, Chelan County Behavioral Health Unit, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and East Wenatchee Police Department.
