PULLMAN, WA — The Palouse Conservation District will host a virtual presentation next week focused on identifying and managing noxious weeds across the Palouse region.
The event, Understanding and Managing Noxious Weeds on the Palouse, is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. and will take place via Zoom. Scott Watson, Coordinator of the Whitman County Noxious Weed Control Board, will lead the session, according to a press release from the district .
Watson will discuss the most common invasive and noxious plant species found locally, including how to recognize them, the environmental and agricultural challenges they pose, and practical steps residents can take to limit their spread. The presentation is intended for anyone living or working on the Palouse—whether in rural areas, within city limits, or attending school in the region.
Participants will also learn how noxious weeds affect native biodiversity and the long-term resilience of local ecosystems. The session will outline effective mitigation strategies and emphasize how community efforts can help protect natural habitats.
The event is free and open to the public. Registration is available through the Palouse Conservation District’s website.
The district provides voluntary, incentive-based programs to support landowners and agricultural operators with natural resource conservation throughout the region. More information is available at PalouseCD.org or by calling 509-332-4101.
