Public Comment Open Through Dec. 19 on Idaho Fish and Game’s Draft Strategic Plan

BOISE, ID — Idaho Fish and Game is asking the public to weigh in on its newly drafted Strategic Plan, a document that will guide the department’s wildlife management priorities for years to come. Online comments are being accepted through Dec. 19, 2025.

The Strategic Plan was last updated in 2015 and serves as the department’s roadmap for its goals, strategies, objectives and actions. With Idaho’s population growth, shifting land use and evolving wildlife needs, officials say the updated plan must reflect today’s realities and future challenges.

Earlier this year, Fish and Game conducted extensive outreach across the state to gather feedback from both the public and department staff. That input helped shape the draft now open for review. The document was developed by eight staff working groups and has already been reviewed by the Idaho Fish and Game Commission.

Residents who want to participate can submit comments online via the department’s Strategic Plan webpage. The comment period closes at midnight MST on Dec. 19.

Once comments are collected, staff will compile the input and present it to the Commission during its January 2026 meeting. The Commission is expected to adopt the final version of the plan in early 2026.
