CAMP MURRAY, WA – Gov. Bob Ferguson declared a statewide emergency Wednesday as flooding and winter weather continue to affect communities across Washington.

The declaration, Proclamation 25-07, follows several days of heavy rain, snow and high winds that have caused localized flooding, road closures and utility disruptions. Ferguson also said he will request an expedited federal emergency declaration to open access to additional resources.

“The next few days are critical,” Ferguson said, urging residents to follow local emergency alerts and evacuation orders. He thanked first responders assisting in affected areas.

The state emergency order activates the Washington State Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan and authorizes use of the Washington National Guard. It also temporarily suspends hours-of-service limits for commercial drivers hauling livestock feed and dairy supplies.

State officials remain in contact with county and tribal governments and federal partners, including the National Weather Service, FEMA Region 10 and the Army Corps of Engineers. Ferguson plans to visit impacted areas in the coming days.
