SAINT MARIES, ID— The Idaho State Police is investigating a single-vehicle crash that left a local woman dead early Thursday morning. The incident occurred at about 4:40 a.m. on December 11 along State Highway 3 near milepost 88.
According to ISP, a 55-year-old Saint Maries woman was driving a Chevrolet Captiva northbound when the vehicle left the roadway and came to rest against a tree. She suffered critical injuries and was taken by ground ambulance to a nearby hospital, where she later died.
No other passengers were in the vehicle, and next of kin has been notified. The roadway was blocked for roughly three hours but has since reopened.
The crash remains under investigation by Idaho State Police.
