KINGSTON, ID — Shoshone County officials have declared a state of emergency as flooding along the Coeur d’Alene River and St. Joe River continues to impact several communities. Local agencies have increased emergency staffing and response operations as water levels rise and conditions remain unstable.

According to the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office, additional off-duty patrol deputies, firefighters, EMS personnel, Silver Valley Search and Rescue, and other first responders have been deployed to monitor affected corridors, including CDA River Road, Beaver Creek, Prichard Creek, and St. Joe River Road.

Silver Valley Fire Rescue’s Swift Water Rescue Team has already assisted residents in evacuating their home. The agency shared a photograph showing responders guiding individuals to safety as floodwaters encroached.

County officials are urging the public to avoid all closed roads, both for personal safety and to allow emergency crews to work without obstruction. Sandbags are being transported to the Bumble Bee Bridge area, where law enforcement is also staging as response operations continue.

Authorities say updates will be provided as the situation develops. Residents in flood-prone areas are encouraged to remain alert, monitor official channels, and prepare for changing conditions.
