Palouse Conservation District to host soil health breakfast in Colfax

COLFAX, WA — The Palouse Conservation District will host a Soil Health Breakfast for local farmers and ranchers on Wednesday, Jan. 7, from 8 to 10 a.m. at The Center in Colfax, located next to the Colfax library.

The free event will include breakfast and coffee along with peer-to-peer discussions focused on soil health practices being used across the Palouse. Organizers say the gathering is intended to give producers a chance to share strategies that support productive and resilient soils.

The featured speaker will be Kyle Schultheis of Diamond-S Farms in Colton, Washington. Schultheis will discuss how his operation has responded to challenging market conditions by experimenting with intercropping systems, reducing reliance on synthetic inputs, and separating interseeded crops.

Registration is open through Sunday, Jan. 4, or until space is filled. Virtual participation is also available by request.
