WDFW seeks public’s help in illegal bighorn sheep killing near Asotin

ASOTIN, WA — Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person or people responsible for the unlawful killing of a yearling bighorn ram near the city of Asotin.

According to WDFW, the animal was shot and wasted at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, near the 8300 block of Asotin Creek Road in the Peola Game Management Unit. The ram was reportedly killed and left at the scene.

WDFW Police say the incident is under investigation and are urging anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area or has information related to the case to come forward.

Tips can be reported directly to WDFW Police Officer Highfield at (509) 905-1688. Information can also be provided by calling the WILDCOMM dispatch center at (360) 902-2936, option 1, or by texting WDFWTIP to 847411.

Officials say individuals who provide information that leads to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward or bonus points for special permit hunting opportunities.
