PULLMAN, WA — A 45-year-old Fernwood, Idaho man has pleaded guilty to leading local law enforcement on a dangerous car chase that ended with a crash on Pullman’s College Hill.
David Pock pleaded guilty to felony attempted eluding in Whitman County Superior Court on Friday. The prosecutor’s office dropped a felony assault count as part of the plea deal.
Pock was looking for his ex-girlfriend when he went to a home in Whitman County on the evening of November 11 and threatened a couple with a bow and arrow and a lit flare. Whitman County Sheriff’s deputies quickly located Pock driving on U.S. Highway 195. Pock refused to stop and led deputies on a high-speed chase into Pullman on several neighborhood side streets. He eventually crashed at Trinity Lutheran Church on College Hill and ran before being arrested.
The alleged assault victim agreed with the plea agreement, noting that he is a friend of Pock’s and believed he was having a mental health crisis. Pock’s ex-girlfriend wasn’t at the home where he reportedly threatened the couple.
Judge Roger Sandberg agreed with the prosecutor’s request that Pock receive the maximum sentence of two months in jail in this case. Judge Sandberg noted that Pock was getting off with an extremely light sentence but noted that he still faces serious felony charges in Idaho. He is wanted on a warrant in Benewah County for illegal possession of a firearm and injury to a child. Pock has an extensive criminal history outside of Washington, which didn’t apply to the sentencing range in this local case in Whitman County.
