Hiker Fatally Injured by Falling Rock on Railroad Trail Near Reubens

RUBENS, ID – At approximately 10:40 a.m. on Saturday, Nez Perce County Deputies were dispatched to assist an injured hiker on the railroad trail between Highway 95 and Reubens, Idaho. Deputies from Nez Perce County and Lewis County, along with Lewiston medics and Life Flight, responded to the area.

According to the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office, it was reported that a hiker had been struck in the head by a falling rock approximately four miles east of Highway 95, inside one of the railroad tunnels. Another hiker in the group provided aid until deputies and Life Flight arrived.

Unfortunately, the 40-year-old female hiker succumbed to her injuries at the scene.  The identity of the female victim was not immediately released.
