7 Dead, Several Injured in Tour Van Crash Near Henry’s Lake

FREMONT COUNTY, ID – A tragic two-vehicle crash near Henry’s Lake on U.S. Highway 20 has left seven people dead and several more injured. The crash happened around 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 1.

The collision involved a Dodge Ram pickup truck and a Mercedes passenger van carrying a tour group on their way to Yellowstone National Park. The van caught fire after the crash.

Six people from the van and the pickup truck’s driver, 25-year-old Isaih Moreno from Humble, Texas, died at the scene. Other passengers in the van were injured and taken to nearby hospitals—some by helicopter and others by ambulance. Thankfully, most of their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

There were 14 people in the van. The group was on a tour organized by Ctour Holiday LLC, a company that offers trips for international travelers. Most of the passengers were from China, and one was from Italy. The van’s driver was licensed in California.

Due to the number of people involved and their international backgrounds, authorities are still working on notifying families. This process will take time and is being handled with the help of local and international officials.

The Idaho State Police (ISP) is continuing to investigate what caused the crash. All names of the deceased will be released once their families are notified. The Ada County Coroner’s Office is also helping with the investigation by confirming identities through autopsies.

The highway was closed for nearly seven hours while emergency crews responded and cleared the scene, but it is now back open.

Further updates will be shared as more verified information becomes available.
