GRANGEVILLE, ID – The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office says the search for 68-year-old Robert Jeffrey Howe ended on Saturday.
Authorities had been searching for Howe since Wednesday, when the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call advising a man was missing and possibly had drown in the Lochsa River near the Wilderness Gateway Campground, near milepost 122 on Highway 12.
Using a drone, the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office located Howe’s body on Saturday afternoon. Howe was found in the river, approximately two miles from where he was last seen at the Wilderness Gateway Campground.
The Sheriff’s Office thanked the Nez Perce County Dive Team, Two Bear Air, the Idaho County Posse K9 team, the US Forest Service Fire Staff and River Rangers, and the multiple family members, volunteers, and friends of Howe – who tirelessly worked to help locate him.
