COLFAX, WA – Multiple local agencies will take part in an active shooter mass casualty training exercise at Colfax High School on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. The training is scheduled to run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and will involve emergency responders from across Whitman County.

Organized by the Whitman County Department of Emergency Management, the drill is a joint effort involving school officials, ESD 101, fire and EMS personnel, law enforcement agencies, and Whitman Community Hospital. The goal is to enhance preparedness and improve interagency coordination in the event of a critical incident.

The exercise will include a simulated active shooter and mass casualty scenario, featuring emergency vehicles, uniformed responders, and mock emergency activities. Officials emphasize that the event is a training exercise and not a real emergency.

Traffic near Colfax High School and Jennings Elementary may be affected, with detour signage in place on the day of the event. Residents are asked to plan alternate routes and remain aware of the increased emergency activity in the area.
