LEWISTON, ID – The Lewiston City Council on Monday night approved a new three-year labor agreement with the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) Local 1773, ending a months-long wage dispute.
The contract includes a 2.5% pay increase for the first year, applied retroactively to October 1, 2024. In addition, it provides for annual cost-of-living adjustments between 1% and 2.5% in October 2025 and October 2026.
Firefighters will also receive a one-time market wage adjustment of 4%. The agreement also includes a clothing allowance of $1,250 for full-time employees and $500 for reserve firefighters.
The previous contract expired in October 2024. The new agreement was reached through court-ordered mediation held on May 28, according to IAFF Local 1773.
Following the council’s approval, the union acknowledged community support on social media, stating that public encouragement played a role in reaching the agreement.
