CLARKSTON, WA – Firefighters from three regional departments responded to a house fire Monday afternoon in Clarkston, quickly containing the flames.
The fire broke out just before 3 p.m. at a home in the 1300 block of Elm Street. When crews from Asotin County Fire District #1, Clarkston Fire Department, and Lewiston Fire Department arrived, they found heavy fire on the front of the house.
Five people and four dogs were inside when the fire started, but all managed to evacuate safely. One person suffered minor burns to an arm and was treated at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control quickly but stayed on scene for about 90 minutes to check for hot spots and ensure the fire did not reignite.
Investigators believe the fire may have been smoking-related, though the exact cause remains under review.
Elm Street was closed in the area for approximately two hours while crews worked.
