CLARKSTON, WA — Construction is set to begin next week at Heights Elementary School as the Clarkston School District moves forward with upgrades to its HVAC system and the installation of a solar-powered backup system.

The project includes replacing the school’s aging PVC piping with more durable copper, a step aimed at enhancing system longevity and reliability. The upgraded HVAC system is expected to improve indoor air quality, ventilation, and temperature regulation, while the addition of a solar backup will provide greater energy resilience during power outages.

According to the district, these improvements reflect a broader commitment to maintaining safe, efficient, and modern learning environments. Funding for the upgrades was made possible through a combination of community-supported capital project funds and a grant from the Washington State Department of Commerce.

“We are deeply grateful for the community’s continued investment in our schools,” the district stated. “These upgrades will help ensure healthier, more sustainable conditions for students and staff.”
