Nearly 1,900 Trout to Be Stocked in Clearwater Region Waters This September

LEWISTON, ID – Anglers in the Clearwater Region will soon see more opportunities for fall fishing, as Idaho Fish and Game announced plans to release nearly 1,900 catchable-sized rainbow trout into local waters this September.

The fish, measuring 10 to 12 inches, will be distributed across several popular reservoirs and ponds in the region. Stocking locations include Elk Creek Reservoir, Fenn Pond, Spring Valley Reservoir, Moose Creek Reservoir, Winchester Lake, Deer Creek Reservoir, Karolyn’s Pond, and Soldiers Meadow Reservoir.

Officials noted that all stocking dates are tentative, depending on weather, water conditions, and staffing. Many of these sites are considered family-friendly fishing destinations, with easy access for anglers of all ages.

Idaho Fish and Game encourages new anglers to try simple rigs, such as worms and marshmallows or commercial baits like PowerBait, either fished near the bottom or suspended under a bobber. Updated regulations, including bag limits and season details, are available in the 2025–2027 Fishing Seasons and Rules booklet.
