LAPWAI, ID — Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred Friday evening in the area of Ash Avenue and Thunderhill Road.

According to Nez Perce Tribal Police, officers responded around 5:24 p.m. to reports of multiple shots fired. When officers arrived, they detained a suspect believed to be involved in the incident.

Two victims were found at the scene. A male victim was transported to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center for treatment. A female victim, however, was pronounced dead on site.

Nez Perce Tribal Police are working in coordination with the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho State Police, and the FBI as the investigation continues. Authorities emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
