Single-vehicle crash on US 93 near Salmon claims life of elderly driver

SALMON, ID — An 82-year-old Salmon man was killed Monday morning in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 93 north of Salmon, according to Idaho State Police.

ISP said the crash occurred at about 9:45 a.m. on January 5, when the driver was traveling northbound in a 1999 GMC Sierra pickup on icy road conditions. Investigators report the driver lost control of the vehicle, which went off the north side of the roadway and overturned into the Salmon River.

The driver died at the scene as a result of his injuries. He was the only occupant of the vehicle and was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Idaho State Police were assisted at the scene by the Lemhi County Sheriff’s Office and Lemhi County Search and Rescue.
