LEWISTON, ID – The 58-year-old Western Washington man accused of going on a rolling shooting spree through the Palouse has been found incompetent to stand trial in Idaho.
Shawn Johnson of Sequim faces a felony aggravated assault count in Lewiston in Nez Perce County Second District Court. Johnson was arrested by Idaho State Police for allegedly shooting at another motorist from his pickup on U.S. Highway 95 on the Lewiston Hill.
The Washington State Patrol is investigating Johnson for allegedly firing shots from his truck in Whitman County. The WSP believes he may have fired a shot where a trooper had a driver pulled over on State Route 26 near Colfax. No one was hurt during the incident on the afternoon of August 6th.
Johnson is now in Idaho State Department of Health’s custody to restore his competency so he can stand trial.
