COLFAX, WA – A 19-year-old Colfax man charged with child molestation had pleaded guilty to a lesser felony.

Elijah Smith pleaded guilty to communicating with a minor for immoral purposes Wednesday in Whitman County Superior Court. Smith is now in the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office jail in Colfax awaiting his sentencing on November 21st.

Smith was arrested by deputies in late June when he was accused of molesting a child the week before in Garfield.

He told authorities that he was being falsely accused.
