Lane Closures Underway on SH-3 and US-95 for Roadway Testing This Week

KENDRICK, ID – Roadwork is underway this week on State Highway 3 and U.S. Highway 95 as the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) begins geotechnical investigations in preparation for resurfacing projects planned next year.

Crews started work today, Monday, October 7, on SH-3 between milepost 13 and 18 at the bottom of Bear Ridge Grade. Traffic is reduced to one lane, with flaggers directing alternating travel in each direction. Delays are expected to be less than 15 minutes, and the work zone is expected to remain active through Wednesday, October 9.

Escape ramps and turnouts along this section of SH-3 are closed during operations. A traffic control crew is notifying truck drivers at the brake check area at the top of the grade.

Beginning Wednesday, October 9, ITD will also close one lane on US-95 near Grangeville, between milepost 241 and 251 in the Johnston Road area. That work is scheduled to continue through Friday, October 11.

Both projects involve drilling into the roadway to collect data that will help engineers plan for next year’s resurfacing work. The schedule is weather dependent and may change.
