KOOTENAI COUNTY, ID – The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal collision that occurred Thursday afternoon near the Fernan Saddle area within the Coeur d’Alene National Forest.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies and fire rescue personnel responded to a report of a head-on crash involving a motorcycle and a truck around 3:15 p.m. Responders found the male motorcycle operator trapped beneath the truck. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Authorities are withholding the victim’s name pending notification of next of kin.

The incident remains under investigation by the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Investigation Unit.
